A nutrition brand that teaches real food is the key to healthy living is thriving, but nourishing its success was a challenge with its improperly configured tech stack. Enter Cin7.
Renowned nutritionist and author Cyndi O’Meara founded Changing Habits in 1998 after publishing her bestselling book, Changing Habits Changing Lives. Her passion for educating people on how to improve their lives through organic whole foods and living a healthy lifestyle has made Changing Habits a go-to source for nutritious, good-for-you products, quality educational content, and successful weight-loss programs.
In 2024, Divitiae Health purchased Changing Habits, and according to Sonya Keenan, Chief Marketing Officer, the online health food store has grown consistently since then.
“All our products are organic and purchased from ethical sources, and a lot of our products are specifically made for us here in Australia,” she says. “Even in a rough economy, we’re growing.”
Their exciting growth has been possible despite the systems the Changing Habits team was using to run their expanding e-commerce operations. The systems, Unleashed and WooCommerce, were set up to handle a manufacturing and wholesale business, not an e-commerce retail one.
“We do, on average, over 1,000 transactions a month, but we also have times where we’re doing 100 or 200 orders a day. The WooCommerce installation was just too clunky, wasn’t optimized, and it wasn’t able to scale to the level we needed for sales.”
Unleashed’s stock on hand valuations were also way off, giving Changing Habits’ external accounting company low confidence in the financial data being pushed into Xero. Plus, Unleashed didn’t:
Changing Habits couldn’t stomach the inherited systems’ issues any longer.
“Our accounting firm introduced us to Integration Kings and its owner and founder Robert King, who, after evaluating Unleashed, said it wouldn’t give us what we wanted. He told us, ‘I recommend Cin7.’”
Sergio Zambrano, owner of Divitiae Health, says that before purchasing Changing Habits, he and his team knew it was a “great brand with great products,” but they didn’t know that its inventory management system as well as WooCommerce needed to be put on the chopping block. Or in their case, the cutting board.
“Making sense of the data was really difficult,” he says.
What they needed was a scalable commerce foundation that would allow them to integrate with Shopify and provide:
For Sergio, Cin7 Core had all the ingredients the right inventory management solution should have. “We did our due diligence, researching the other inventory systems that were out there. And Rob of Integration Kings has tons of experience and came highly recommended.”
So, with Integration Kings on board, the Changing Habits team began the implementation in April 2025, and in six months, they had Cin7 Core up and running.
“Integration Kings initially did a weekly call while we were setting up the different practices with the accounting team, and we were working with our accountant to make sure those structures were correct and the codes were mapping through to the right accounts within Xero,” says Sonya. “We also recorded the trainings, which we used to create vital standard operating procedures.”
The trainings, which Integration Kings does in a team format, were straightforward, with Sonya declaring there was never any “tech or accounting speak.” As for Rob’s take on the Changing Habits implementation, the health and wellness company has been an ideal customer.
“Their approach was to go in with a clear plan, which was to focus on the outcome of what they wanted to achieve.”
Tessa Pennick, who has been with Changing Habits for almost 11 years, played a key role in the implementation and says the transition from the original systems to Cin7 Core was very smooth.
Before Cin7 Core, Changing Habits had some unfortunate habits of their own, but they weren’t of their own making. Unleashed required a lot of hand holding, including manually checking inventory in their offsite warehouse. They couldn’t trust their inventory numbers, and they were relying on disjointed workflows, which meant the team had to work long hours.
Now, Cin7 Core is acting as their magic health elixir, curing them of a toxic tech situation and restoring their wellbeing one benefit at a time.
The benefits?
“Tessa is saving roughly five or six hours a week managing stock and no longer has to check with the warehouse because our numbers are all adding up,” Sonya says. “I have a lot of confidence in the numbers we’re seeing, and we’re not running out of stock like we used to.”
But the benefits don’t stop there. They can now plan for long lead times as well as manage their sales margins and cost of goods sold (COGS) with accurate data. Rob says, “They’ve got a safety margin in there, helping them keep pricing intact. They didn’t have that with Unleashed.”
Prior to Cin7 Core, Changing Habits also didn’t have a single source of truth they could trust or that could integrate with Shopify and Xero. Now, in addition to adding Amazon (FBA), Cin7 allows them to:
With a fully supported implementation combined with Cin7 Core’s provision of real-time inventory visibility, clean accounting workflows, and operational control (without adding additional complexity), Changing Habits is a stress-free business. It’s equipped to keep its promise of leading with health over profit and its commitment to making a long-lasting, continual impact.
And Sergio is happy they were able to create a vigorous and independent tech stack that let them cut their ties to the original tech ecosystem.
“It was a really positive experience. I definitely recommend Cin7 and Integration Kings!”
