Brands in Australia have another good reason to sell to on Amazon. The company launched Amazon Prime in mid-June. If the subscription service grows the way it has in other markets, brands will have the potential to reach even more customers around Australia.
Amazon Prime Tends to Attract a Lot of Consumers
Amazon Prime is a subscription service that gives members product discounts, free delivery and free access to Amazon’s entertainment media channels. In the US, Prime has worked like a charm. Membership there grew by 38% in 2017, to reach 80 million.
And That’s Good for Sellers
If Prime follows that growth pattern, sellers will benefit. Not only will more Australians look for products on the platform, but if they’re like Americans, they’ll spend more too. The potential for online resellers, then, is to sell more to customers that spend more.
Amazon Lures with Free Trial
Amazon Australia is enticing customers with a free 30-day trial of Prime. Shoppers can sign up for $6.99 per month, or pay $59 for a full year following the trial. If customers sign up before January 1, they’ll only have to pay $4.99 a month. Amazon Australia is already bringing in the customers (11.4 million visits in March), so it will be interesting to see how much Prime grows that number.
